Education:
  • I oppose SB 777. Our public schools should not serve as a breeding ground where ultra-liberal teachers have carte blanche to brainwash our children against our family values and morals and against our will.
  • Families deserve the right to leave failing public schools. This is of special importance in the inner cities, where an entire generation is being left behind because of schools which do not work. As a proud nation protective of individual rights, we must committ as a nation to school vouchers which can be used at any school of the parent's choosing. Vouchers will provide much needed competition for public schools and force them to get better.

     Energy:
  • We must move towards energy independence. Since we are, and will be for the forseeable future, an oil-based economy, we must stop standing in the way of domestic oil exploration, drilling and refining. Restrictions made on the use of coal must be reassessed in this light.
  • Many "alternative" sources of energy are not economically feasible at the present time and we should stop throwing money at them until they can prove themselves in the market place. Some alternative technologies are injurious to entire cultures, for example over-reliance on bio-diesel could help cause unnecessary suffering of millions of people, starvation and famine in third-world countries. Nuclear power however is a viable, low cost, environmentally sound alternative source of power and should be pursued.

     Environment:
  • We are guardians of our environment and the United States has led the way in nearly every measure of environmental responsibility and we will continue to lead the world in this area. Unfortunately, many have accepted the unproven theory of man-made global warming and are using that belief as a reason to extend government control of commerce. The science that supports this theory is so questionable that any legislation, including the Kyoto Treaty, which seeks to regulate the economy on this basis must be resisted.
  • I am opposed to extreme environmentalism.

     Foreign Policy:
  • U.S. foreign policy should be constructed with the idea of encouraging pro-West, secular and democratic governments. The days of the State Department seeking simple stability are over. Spreading democracy responsibly should be our goal, democracies do not go to war with each other.
  • I oppose the North America Trade/Transportation Agreement that permits foreign nationals to freely use our highways without adequate safeguards.
  • Because the UN has a proven history as a corrupt, dysfunctional and at times anti-American organization, we should institute a program wherein our financial support for it is decreased every year unless or until substantial reforms are made.
  • We must do a far better job in making sure that our foreign aid programs actually assist the people of the country to whom we are giving assistance and that it is not ending up in the hands of corrupt rulers.
  • We must apply far more pressure on certain countries, especially those in the Islamic world, where religious freedom does not exist, and we must make further aid conditional on their ending of religious persecution.
  • Disclosure of national security secrets is a serious crime and must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Media organizations can not be allowed to hide behind the First Amendment when they reveal information which is damaging to national security.
